More specifically, the sale of apartments increased by 38.2% in one year, reaching 507,209 units, while the sale of houses rose by 37.8%, reaching 169,566 units.
Furthermore, the price of apartments rose by 3.6% in 2021, averaging 1,701 euros per square meter, while the price of houses surged by 10.2%, reaching 1,195 euros per square meter.
Home sales increased in all regions over the past year, with notable increases in the Balearic Islands (51.3%), Canary Islands (43.7%), Andalusia (43.1%), Valencian Community (41.7%), and Cantabria (40.1%).
The price per square meter also rose in 13 of the 17 autonomous communities in the country. The largest increases were recorded in the Balearic Islands (14.2%), Andalusia (8.1%), Canary Islands (7.9%), Navarre (7.4%), and the Community of Madrid (7.1%). In contrast, decreases were observed in La Rioja (-5.9%), Asturias (-1.9%), Castile and León (-0.7%), and Aragon (-0.4%).
In December 2021, home sales in Spain rose by 17% compared to the previous year, reaching 72,023 units. Additionally, the average price per square meter was 1,577 euros, marking a 7.9% increase compared to the last month of the previous year.
More specifically, the sale of apartments rose by 18% compared to December 2020, reaching 54,618 units, while the sale of houses increased by 13.9%, reaching 17,405 units.
Finally, the price of apartments rose by 5.1% in one year, reaching 1,758 euros per square meter, while the price of houses increased by 13.4%, reaching 1,282 euros per square meter.
