Santa Pola a coastal municipality of the Valencian Community located on the coast of the province of Alicante, in the Bajo Vinalopó region.

What to see in Santa Pola:

The Cabo de Santa Pola lighthouse is located on the Cabo de Santa Pola, Alicante, from where it overlooks both the bay of Alicante and the orchard of Elche and the island of Tabarca. It was built in 1858 on the old Atalayola tower, which, in turn, had been built in 1552. It was a tower with a square plan and topped by a cornice. It is currently heavily modified, plastered and painted, but it is still identifiable.

The island of Tabarca, Nova Tabarca or Plana, officially Isla Plana or Nova Tabarca, is an island in the Mediterranean Sea that is located about 8 km from the port of Santa Pola and just over 4,300 meters from Cape Santa Pola. It is the largest island in the Valencian Community and the only one inhabited.

The Municipal Aquarium is located in Santa Pola (Alicante), Spain. It was inaugurated in 1983 and dedicates its facilities to showing part of the fauna of the Mediterranean Sea, being an important instrument to know the richness of the seabed with the aim of entertaining and informing, as well as making the visitor aware of the need for its conservation.

The museum facilities total a surface area of 707 m², of which 202 m² are occupied by the nine exhibiting tanks, which maintain a seawater capacity of more than 210 m³. Numerous autochthonous species of the Mediterranean are located in them, allowing us to observe their habits and customs. Most of the species have been donated by the same sailors of Santa Pola.

The castle-fortress of Santa Pola (Alicante, Spain) is located in Plaza Glorieta and was built in the 16th century. Inside is the parade ground and the cistern, with the Chapel of the Virgin of Loreto (Patron Saint of Santa Pola), the Museum of the Sea and the Museum of Fishing. It was built in 1557 by the work of Italian engineers and commissioned by the Viceroy of Valencia, Bernardino de Cárdenas, for the protection and defense of sailors against attacks by pirates, a frequent occurrence on our coasts in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Currently, the castle-fortress has become a Cultural Center, in which cultural, festive and religious activities take place.
