Home sales increased by more than 38% in 2021

The sale of homes in Spain increased by 38.1% in 2021 compared to the previous year, reaching 676,775 units. In addition, the average price per m2 reached 1,507 euros, which represents an increase of 5.3%, as reported on Thursday by the General Council of Notaries.
Concretely, the sale of apartments increased by 38.2% over one year, to 507,209 units, while that of houses increased by 37.8%, to 169,566 units.
Similarly, the price of apartments increased by 3.6% in 2021, to 1,701 euros per m2 on average, while that of houses jumped by 10.2%, to 1,195 euros per m2.
The sale of homes has increased in all regions over the past year, highlighting the Balearic Islands (51.3%), the Canary Islands (43.7%), Andalusia (43.1%) , the Valencian Community (41.7%) and Cantabria (40.1%).
For its part, the price per m2 has increased in 13 of the 17 autonomies of our country. The highest increases were recorded in the Balearic Islands (14.2%), Andalusia (8.1%), the Canary Islands (7.9%), Navarre (7.4%) and the Community of Madrid (7 .1%) . On the contrary, decreases were recorded in La Rioja (-5.9%), Asturias (-1.9%), Castile and León (-0.7%) and Aragon (-0.4%). ).
It also goes up in December
In December 2021, the sale of homes in Spain increased by 17% per year, reaching 72,023 units. In addition, the price per m2 averaged 1,577 euros, i.e. 7.9% more than in the last month of the previous year.
Specifically, the sale of apartments increased by 18% compared to December 2020, to 54,618 units, while that of houses increased by 13.9%, to 17,405 units.
Finally, the price of apartments increased by 5.1% over one year, to 1,758 euros per m2, while that of houses jumped by 13.4%, to 1,282 euros per m2.
