The rental platform Holidu used data from World Weather Online to calculate the average number of sunny hours per month in cities across Europe. They then compiled a list of the 30 sunniest areas on the continent. Alicante ranks first with an impressive average of 349 hours of sunshine per month! As for Valencia, which was voted the healthiest city in the world in 2022, it has achieved a very honorable position, ranking sixth with 343 hours of sunshine per month.

This is a significant advantage for the Valencian Community, attracting more and more European tourists and “digital nomads” looking for a piece of paradise to work remotely.

Spain, the Sunniest Country in the Continent

The ranking more broadly identifies Spain as the sunniest country in Europe. Twelve Spanish cities made the list, with six in the top ten.

In addition to Alicante and Valencia, Murcia is in third place, and Málaga is in fourth, with an average of 345 hours of sunshine per month. Las Palmas and Granada occupy the eighth and ninth places, respectively, closing this very Spanish top 10.

Also in the top 30 are Seville, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, and Valladolid, the main important cities of Spain. Living in this country seems to guarantee more sunshine than elsewhere.
