The Costa Blanca is not only famous for its beaches and landscapes, but also for its rich and varied culinary offerings. One of the experiences we share with our clients during property visits in Spain is discovering the area and enjoying the local gastronomy — an essential part of the Spanish lifestyle. Alejandro Gómez Huertas, CEO of GestaliHome, is passionate about Alicante’s culture and its cuisine. Today, he shares his list of favorite restaurants to enjoy a 100% authentic culinary experience in the region.
In the heart of Denia’s city center, you’ll find Els Magazinos — a group of restaurants housed in the former royal stables of the King of Spain. These buildings, dating back to the 16th century, were originally part of an aristocratic complex belonging to local nobility. Over the centuries, this space has been transformed into a gastronomic hub, with each establishment offering something different — from freshly made tapas to seafood-based dishes — allowing visitors to sample a wide range of specialties without having to leave the area.
Located near Les Rotes beach in Denia, Pegolí is renowned for preparing rice dishes and fresh fish using the daily catch. Traditional recipes like arroz a banda are cooked with local produce from both the land and sea. It’s also typical to enjoy dried octopus and red prawns — symbols of authentic cuisine in Denia. Its simple and functional atmosphere makes it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors seeking an authentic experience.
This family-run restaurant is located in Cumbre del Sol, between Moraira and Jávea, right in the Cala Moraig area. What makes it special is its privileged location, with direct views of the cliffs and the Mediterranean Sea. The venue also has a swimming pool, allowing diners to take a refreshing dip after enjoying a meal prepared following traditional local recipes.
Situated on the seafront, this restaurant stands out for its stunning views over the bay of Moraira. The decor blends modern elements with traditional Mediterranean touches. Its terrace, directly facing the sea, offers unbeatable views of the Mediterranean, creating the perfect setting to enjoy seasonal dishes made with local products. The menu, which changes throughout the year, features traditional rice and fish dishes, prepared with time-honored methods passed down through generations — making Amantes de Moraira an ideal place for a complete gastronomic experience.
Located in Villajoyosa, Ca Marta sits opposite the town’s marina. This restaurant is committed to local cuisine, with a menu that highlights rice dishes, fresh fish, and traditional desserts. We recommend trying the chipirón (baby squid) croquettes with black ink. The decor preserves elements that reflect the village’s essence, making it a must-visit to experience Villajoyosa’s culinary heritage.
In Alfaz del Pi, you’ll find Restaurante Ta Casa, which means "Your Home" in Valencian — and that’s exactly how you'll feel. Specializing in hoyetas (stews) and rice dishes that differ from the typical coastal fare, their menu draws more from Alicante’s inland mountain cuisine. It features a beautiful terrace set in a garden.
Located in Alicante’s old town, Manero is a boutique tapas bar known for its sophisticated ambiance and carefully curated decor inspired by 1920s Spain. Its open kitchen allows diners to observe the creative process behind each dish, offering a unique experience where culinary art meets transparency and energy. This concept invites guests to taste a variety of tapas in an elegant and contemporary setting.
In a modern, bright space with live music, Portal offers a menu that fuses traditional Alicante recipes with contemporary techniques. It includes both seafood and meat dishes, all prepared in an open kitchen that highlights the freshness and quality of each plate. The interior decor is refreshed every season, creating a new experience with each visit.
Nou Manolín focuses on an innovative reinterpretation of Mediterranean cuisine. Its menu changes with the seasons and is based on fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant’s terrace offers a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the daily culinary offerings. Guests can choose between dining in a traditional Spanish taberna or in a wine-cellar-inspired dining room.
With an intimate, unpretentious atmosphere, Piripi is a small space where homemade dishes are served. The menu varies according to the season, ensuring an experience that reflects the authenticity and essence of Alicante’s cuisine. One of our favorites is the squid with caramelized onions.
Located near Torrevieja’s beach, Barlovento specializes in seafood, with a menu that changes daily depending on the catch. It offers rice dishes and grilled fish. The dining area, with large windows and wood decor that evokes the Mediterranean spirit, allows guests to enjoy natural light and spectacular views. With over 32 years of culinary experience, Barlovento has become a benchmark for traditional cuisine.
Set within the exclusive La Finca Golf resort in Algorfa, Restaurante Misto combines the world of golf with a culinary proposal based on local recipes reinterpreted with a modern twist. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for relaxing after a round of golf. The menu emphasizes local vegetables and grilled meats, always maintaining a strong connection to regional traditions. In our opinion, it’s one of the most spacious and beautiful venues on the Costa Blanca.
The gastronomic diversity, the paradisiacal beaches and the unique Mediterranean climate make the province of Alicante an ideal destination for those looking for a change in their lifestyle; New build properties in coastal areas allow you to enjoy an exceptional culinary experience close to home, complemented by proximity to golf courses and varied recreational activities.
Although this is a recommended list, allow yourself to discover hidden places that will surprise you with the quality and freshness of their food.
