Busot

Located at an altitude of 700 meters on the northern slope of the Cabeçó D'Or mountain range - one of the few Jurassic Prebetic reliefs in the province - they are a magnificent example of a karst cavity. Inside the caves there is a space of more than 80,000 m2 that can be accessed through a 45-meter tunnel, in which the water and the rock have given rise to impressive forms such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns and jellyfish, among many others. .
The Castle of Busot is located in the foothills of the Sierra de Busot and to the north of the town. Visitors will be able to access its interior, learn about its history and the importance of fortification on the area. Although remains of pottery from the Bronze Age have been found, the castle is of Muslim origin and there is little documentation about its history. It is estimated that it was built at the same time as the Bisant medina, during the Arab occupation of these Alicante lands.
The Hermitage of San José; located at the entrance of Busot, it becomes the scene of one of the most important moments of the Moors and Christians Festival: the offering of flowers in honor of its patron saint, San José. The Hermitage of San José is also the starting point of the Cavalcade of the Magi on the magical night of January 5.
Mount Calvario is located in the heart of Busot's old town and is a great way to stroll along mountain paths alongside the traditional houses of the town. At its top lies the small Hermitage of San Vicent, surrounded by a pine forest ideal to enjoy the enviable views of the region of l´Alacantí and even the coast. From its viewpoint you can see the references of the most important points of the province.
